When The Laws Work, The Institutions are Strengthened.

I chanced on a surprising news which got me thinking. And I know you might be as well.

Are you aware that Essien has been banned from playing in the Indonesian league?

Well, hear this: Micheal Essien who is well known for playing with Chelsea, AC Millan, Real Madrid and Panathinakos was nearly given a fine of up to 30,000 euros and five years’ imprisonment for not having a work permit in Indonesia .

Luckily for him, he has only been banned from playing in Indonesia until he has acquired the necessary documents even though he is the highest paid player in Indonesia.

Well, that’s how the law should work.

Now let’s look at this, can this really work here in Ghana?

Before you answer this, look around, how many illegal Chinese miners have you heard of or probably seen working freely in Ghana?
What about other foreigners coming in with fake commodities but are rather making it big?

We could have countless scenario …………………..

I believe Essien or even his management could have paid their way out of this situation.

But no! You can’t do this in a country where laws work and the institutions are strong. Not even with money or fame.
Such is what we hope to see in Ghana.
