Principles Vs. Selfish Shields
It has become
a norm with everyone you meet …”I have my principles or he is principled”- They
say.
Well, I
believe we all have principles or wish we had principles. In any case, that
should have been ideal.
But people
tend to use these principles as shields to their benefits and interests only.
But then,
if we were going strictly according to our principles, how do you think the
world would be?
Or do you
think we are all going by our principles?
I am not
talking about philosophies or academic principles. I am talking about the self-woven
principles we shield ourselves with.
Don’t mix morals
and virtues with self-made principles.
“I don’t
drink because I am a Muslim”
That should
be a virtue you are willing to protect. And that's alright.
But saying
I don’t share with anyone could be a selfish shield and not a principle.
The most
common we say or hear others say is “I choose my friends, my friends don’t choose
me “
So just
think carefully, if we are all going by this principle, do you think the
friends you have now, would have truly chosen you?
And to
others, they don’t receive calls before or after a certain time not because
their work demands but because they don’t want to be disturbed.
But they do
call others at these same times when they are in need.
Let’s save
the talk. List them (your principles) and see if they are really principles or self-woven
shields.
At a point
in time, we all need to compromise one way or the other. Sacrifice… That’s how
nature works... You can’t have it all always.
Pick that call
up, you might be a life saver. A smile back at that lady might be that recommendation you need.
There is more to life than just principles….
