A BETTER TODAY

A BETTER TODAY

We always work for a better tomorrow but when tomorrow comes, instead of enjoying, we again think of a better tomorrow... Let’s have a better today.
Today will never come back.
Just pause and think for a moment. What are you really struggling for? And are you satisfied with where you are?
Perhaps you are looking for a brighter future, or for your family or your children. But these were the same people you dreamed of having yesterday.
So then can you really be satisfied with tomorrow? The bright future (tomorrow) you picture and work towards today will look less of what you thought of when tomorrow comes.
We often overlook the goodies today offers, forgetting today was the tomorrow we craved for yesterday.
That is not to say you should live a mediocre life or be lazy.
Not at all.. All we are saying is that, find fulfillment in today as you don’t know what tomorrow brings.
Enjoy today to the fullest and make good use of all the opportunities today brings.
Appreciate the people around you and let them feel loved.
Spend quality time with your spouse now that you don’t have any child and learn how to take responsibilities.
Take advantage of not having a car to walk with the other colleagues in your office and enjoy some friend time together after a hectic day.
Take advantage of being single to groom yourself for marriage.
Man of God, spend much time getting to know your members now that you have a few congregation. You might not have such opportunity again...
Let every minute of today count. Don’t wait to regret what you should have done today when tomorrow comes.

Principles Vs. Selfish Shields

Principles Vs. Selfish Shields

It has become a norm with everyone you meet …”I have my principles or he is principled”- They say.
Well, I believe we all have principles or wish we had principles. In any case, that should have been ideal.
But people tend to use these principles as shields to their benefits and interests only.
But then, if we were going strictly according to our principles, how do you think the world would be?
Or do you think we are all going by our principles?
I am not talking about philosophies or academic principles. I am talking about the self-woven principles we shield ourselves with.
Don’t mix morals and virtues with self-made principles.
“I don’t drink because I am a Muslim”
That should be a virtue you are willing to protect. And that's alright.
But saying I don’t share with anyone could be a selfish shield and not a principle.
The most common we say or hear others say is “I choose my friends, my friends don’t choose me “
So just think carefully, if we are all going by this principle, do you think the friends you have now, would have truly chosen you?
And to others, they don’t receive calls before or after a certain time not because their work demands but because they don’t want to be disturbed.
But they do call others at these same times when they are in need.
Let’s save the talk. List them (your principles) and see if they are really principles or self-woven shields.
At a point in time, we all need to compromise one way or the other. Sacrifice… That’s how nature works... You can’t have it all always.
Pick that call up, you might be a life saver. A smile back at that lady might be that recommendation you need.
There is more to life than just principles….

When The Laws Work, The Institutions are Strengthened.

I chanced on a surprising news which got me thinking. And I know you might be as well.

Are you aware that Essien has been banned from playing in the Indonesian league?

Well, hear this: Micheal Essien who is well known for playing with Chelsea, AC Millan, Real Madrid and Panathinakos was nearly given a fine of up to 30,000 euros and five years’ imprisonment for not having a work permit in Indonesia .

Luckily for him, he has only been banned from playing in Indonesia until he has acquired the necessary documents even though he is the highest paid player in Indonesia.

Well, that’s how the law should work.

Now let’s look at this, can this really work here in Ghana?

Before you answer this, look around, how many illegal Chinese miners have you heard of or probably seen working freely in Ghana?
What about other foreigners coming in with fake commodities but are rather making it big?

We could have countless scenario …………………..

I believe Essien or even his management could have paid their way out of this situation.

But no! You can’t do this in a country where laws work and the institutions are strong. Not even with money or fame.
Such is what we hope to see in Ghana.
